vintage oil 'aladdin' lamp 14cms long

This pretty lamp has no shade or wick. The winding mechanism for the wick is intact but does not seem to move the wick up or down. Maybe I had a wick too wide in it (?) I do not know. It may be mendable.
Either way it is too lovely and too old to throw out.
On the bottom it says 'butterfly Japan fine china'
