We are on a cattle station in central Austtralia, about halfway between Coober Pedy and Alice Springs.... 350km southof Alice Springs to be exact. The station name is De Rose Hill. Mind you this is not the job if you don't like isolation and we are nothing like McLeods (however it is spelt!!) daughters.
Our day is never really the same however it starts around 8 when I go over to our classroom with the eldest and you are left with the younger two. Normally they are dressed and ready to go outside to play or are playing inside. In the mornings I really appreciate a bit of help with the house ie. vaccuming & mopping when needed, unpacking the dishwasher & hanging out washing etc. Then it is out to play on the swings, trampoline etc.
We have our morning tea break around 10.30... time for a cuppa, a quick bite then I head back over to school with the 4 year old and the eight year old. When we are a school it is a great chance for you to play with the youngest (he loves blocks!!) or walk around outside if it is cooler or paint, draw etc.
School finishes at lunch time (around 12.30-1pm) when the kids have lunch then the two youngest have a rest in the afternoons while the eldest finished off school work or does his art/craft activities. In the afternoon I usually have to go and do station things... fencing, bore runs etc so you would be with the children until i get home.
Tea for the kids is around 6pm, I normally do this however if i am running late getting home or away at a meeting I need someone to keep the routine going.
I am on several local committees so I sometimes have meetings or am away so i need someone who is onfident with the children to be here when I am not. This does include some overnight care on occasion.
We (my hubby and I ) also run a contracting business so he is often away, ten minutes to myself is an absolute godsend!
I am with the in home care scheme so to work for me you will need an ABN, to be over 18, a first aid certificate and a blue card/ police clearance.
